MSBCS-BCSI-5: Students will discuss Internet safety and security issues.

EQ: What are the dangers of the internet and how can I stay safe online?

  • Only 8 people have finished the Everfi Ignition Certification so I am going to give you one more day to complete the 7 lessons in Everfi. You will NOT have any more class time after today to finish so please use your time wisely!

Agenda for Tuesday, April 1, 2014 - Friday, April 4, 2014:
  • Continue with your work in EverFi. Remember, you must be finished with all lessons in the Ignition class (7 TOTAL) by Friday at the end of class so USE YOUR TIME WISELY!!
  • Grading: You will be assessed at the end of each lesson. These 7 assessment grades will be averaged together and will count as a SUMMATIVE grade for this unit. TAKE THESE SERIOUSLY!! It will only you to retake the assessment if you make below a 70.

  • Today, we are going to start a unit on Internet Safety in Everfi. 
  • First, let's talk about our unit in Everfi: Ignition! Do you know how to be a responsible digital citizen? Learn how to navigate the online world and understand online privacy, security, cyberbullying, digital relationships and the viral nature of the web.

  • EVERYONE MUST BE FINISHED WITH ALL LESSONS BY THIS FRIDAY!! USE YOUR TIME WISELY!!
  • If you did not bring your own headphones or earbuds, you can either purchase a pair from me ($5), use a class pair, or wait and bring your own tomorrow. If you wait, you will have to make up that time outside of class sometime between now and Friday.
  • Each one of you will create an account in Everfi - https://platform.everfi.net/registration/signup

  • You will have to take a quiz at the end of each section. All of these quiz grades will be averaged together for your summative grade for this unit. If you make below a 70, it will allow you to retake it. If you make a 70 or above, it will not.

  • Before you get started with anything else today, every student needs to go to this link and take this survey: AdvancED Student Survey Please take this seriously!
    Come and tell me as soon as you are finished taking it so I can check you off on my list. Thanks!
  • As soon as you finish the survey above, you can study for your TEST by looking at your notes. As soon as you feel comfortable enough to take the test, you can take the test by logging into Zondle and clicking on Intro to Computers Test.
  • When you get finished, please continue with your typing lessons. If you are finished with the typing lessons, you can go into Nitrotype.

Thursday, March 27, 2014:
  • Yesterday, we finished the Intro to Computers Notes and you turned those in to Edmodo.
  • Today, you will play some games in Zondle in order to study this information. 
  • Then, you will take a SUMMATIVE TEST on this information TOMORROW!

Wednesday, March 26, 2014:
  • We will finish the definitions together at the beginning of class.
  • Once we are finished with that, you will continue with the typing program. Please get a keyboard cover off of the table beside the outside door before you begin.
  • Remember: You must complete all beginner levels and the first two intermediate levels in order to move into Nitrotype like Zengo.
Tuesday, March 25, 2014:
  • If you did not finish the definitions from yesterday, please finish those first. See details from the post yesterday.

Monday, March 24, 2014:
  • Today, you will either be doing an activity with Mr. Jackson and Mrs. Mattison in GACollege411 or (if you have already done this) you will be doing the following assignment:
  • Open your Intro to Computers Notes that should be saved to your H: Drive.
  • Watch the videos posted in the shared drive (Shared --> CTAE --> Jones --> Outbox)
    and type the definitions you learn from these videos.
    ***If you forgot your earbuds, you can use a pair from the back but make sure you wipe them off before you return them.
    ***If the videos will not play, don't worry about it and go straight into the typing program. We can catch up tomorrow if they won't play for y'all. Thanks! :)
  • After you complete the definitions for today, save the Notes sheet and continue with the typing program you started last week.

Agenda for Wednesday, March 19, 2014:
  • Please log in to your Edmodo account and take the "So You Think You Know Basic Technology?!?" Quiz. This is merely for my information so that I can see what you know.
  • Then, work on finishing all beginner courses of the typing program. 
  • After you complete the beginner courses, you will take the typing test again.
Here is how you will be graded - Gross WPM - Mistakes = Net WPM
  • 100 = 20 NET wpm
  • 95 = 18-19 NET wpm
  • 90 = 17 NET wpm
  • 85 = 16 NET wpm
  • 80 = 15 NET wpm
  • 75 = 14 NET wpm
  • 70 = 13 NET wpm
  • 65 = 12 NET wpm
  • 60 = <12 NET wpm
Agenda for Tuesday, March 18, 2014:
  • Continue with Introduction of Class
  • Take the Typing Test - The graphic on the projector shows you where to click to take this typing test. This is just a pre-test and will not count this time.
  • You DO NOT have to use the keyboard covers for the typing test but you DO NEED to use them for the beginner courses in the typing program.
  • Work on finishing all beginner courses of the typing program.
