Agenda for Monday, May 12, 2014 - Friday, May 16, 2014:
  • Remember, you will have all this week to improve your keyboarding scores. 
  • If you take the typing test and score a 20 or higher, you can move on to NitroType.
    Here is how you will be graded - Gross WPM - Mistakes = Net WPM
    • 100 = 20 NET wpm
    • 95 = 18-19 NET wpm
    • 90 = 17 NET wpm
    • 85 = 16 NET wpm
    • 80 = 15 NET wpm
    • 75 = 14 NET wpm
    • 70 = 13 NET wpm
    • 65 = 12 NET wpm
    • 60 = <12 NET wpm
  • If you get finished, you can either do NitroType OR you can earn prizes with Code.org. Ask Mrs. Jones if you are interested in doing code.org.

MSBCS-BCSI-6: Students will utilize the Internet as a resource. 
MSBCS-BCSI-7: Students will develop and model employability skills. 
MSBCS-BCSI-8: Students will utilize word processing software. 
MSBCS-BCSI-9: Students will develop and apply basic spreadsheet skills.
MSBCS-BCSI-11: Students will develop and apply basic desktop publishing skills.
MSBCS-BCSI-12: Students will acquire basic knowledge and skills of multimedia/presentation software.

EQ: How can I use basic computer application skills to plan a party?

Agenda for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday - May 5-7,2014:
  • I am moving the deadline for the party planning project up to Wednesday since most of you are ahead of schedule. 
  • We will begin presentations on Thursday, April 8th!
  • Make sure you have something turned in for EVERY assignment in Edmodo. You ALL must INDIVIDUALLY turn in each assignment even if someone else from your group already turned it in. Thanks!

Agenda for Friday, April 18, 2014:
  • I think I probably overwhelmed you enough yesterday with everything I taught you in Excel so I am not going to go over anything else today.
  • Please make sure you have your BRAINSTORM complete so that you have everything decided before going any further with this project. Remember, you have to stay within a $500 ($1000 if doing a charity fundraiser) budget for your party. I want you all to realize that money doesn't grow on trees so we need to make this a realistic party. That is why I am setting your budget at $500. :)
  • Work on your budget spreadsheet if you are finished brainstorming.
  • Let me know if you have any questions! I'm always here to help!
Agenda for Thursday, April 17, 2014:
  • Continue working on the PARTY PLANNING PROJECT.
  • I will go over the details for the assignments that need to be created in Excel today.
  • Here are the skills you need to show for your Party Planning Budget in Excel:
  1. Categorize your items and label them by category.
  2. Color code your categories by changing the fill color of the cells.
  3. Merge/Center a title for the whole spreadsheet as well as the category titles
  4. Add border lines to all cells containing information.
  5. Expand columns/rows so that information fits in the cells.
  6. Change fonts and font colors.
  7. Apply the currency format to all cells containing money amounts.
  8. Make a total row for each category.
  9. Add the total for each category using a formula.

Agenda for Tuesday, April 1, 2014 - Friday, April 4, 2014:

  • Grading: You will be assessed at the end of each lesson. These 7 assessment grades will be averaged together and will count as a SUMMATIVE grade for this unit. TAKE THESE SERIOUSLY!! It will only you to retake the assessment if you make below a 70.

  • If you did not bring your own headphones or earbuds, you can either purchase a pair from me ($5), use a class pair, or wait and bring your own tomorrow. If you wait, you will have to make up that time outside of class sometime between now and Friday.

  • You will have to take a quiz at the end of each section. All of these quiz grades will be averaged together for your summative grade for this unit. If you make below a 70, it will allow you to retake it. If you make a 70 or above, it will not.

Monday, March 24, 2014:
  • Today, you will either be doing an activity with Mr. Jackson and Mrs. Mattison in GACollege411 or (if you have already done this) you will be doing the following assignment:
  • Open your Intro to Computers Notes that should be saved to your H: Drive.
  • Watch the videos posted in the shared drive (Shared --> CTAE --> Jones --> Outbox)
    and type the definitions you learn from these videos.
    ***If you forgot your earbuds, you can use a pair from the back but make sure you wipe them off before you return them.
    ***If the videos will not play, don't worry about it and go straight into the typing program. We can catch up tomorrow if they won't play for y'all. Thanks! :)
  • After you complete the definitions for today, save the Notes sheet and continue with the typing program you started last week.

  • Then, work on finishing all beginner courses of the typing program. 
  • After you complete the beginner courses, you will take the typing test again.
